Beyond the crises, we are witnessing a metamorphosis of the world.  

 

Across most of the planet, modernity is embodied in the tremendous promises of individual freedom, competition and productivity. But at the same time it provokes reactions of rejection from those who accuse globalization of violating their moral and religious principles, of destroying cultural specificities, of devastating nature or of “commodifying” social relations.
